On the last Friday of every month, I send a free-for-all email about what I’ve been making. But, I’m also interested in what you’re making! Please talk about it in the comments!
Abandoned Miniature Room Box
I took a miniatures class taught by Amanda Kelly of Panda Miniatures via Atlas Obscura. I thought it was a lot of fun. I’ve never taken this kind of online course before and it was a fun way to learn.
By the end of the course, I had a little 1/12-scale room box with many weathered elements because the point of the course was to create abandoned miniature scenes.
Here’s how mine turned out:
So much fun to make a brick wall out of thin cork and then weather it. Just a great little project all around.
A key resource I used that anyone can check out:
A quick and easy Parisian Mini Kit
This kit was fun and relatively simple compared to others I’ve done.
Finally, I made my own Limoncello! I adapted mine from this page, which is somewhat overly complicated but very informative!
I used a bottle of lower end vodka that I just happened to have at home. It turned out pretty good even though I wasn’t entirely sure it would. Here’s the basics:
1.75 litre 90 Proof Vodka
21 lemon peels (careful not to include the white pith)
560 ml (about 2 ⅓ cups) simple syrup (I did 50/50 white sugar and water).
I poured a cup of vodka into a bowl and then peeled the 20-ish lemons into the bowl so they never got time to dry out. I then let put it all in this glass pitcher (I covered the top to be sure no air or bugs would get at it). This recipe makes about 78 fluid ounces.
I already gave a bottle away to a friend. The rest are in my freezer, ready to be called up for gifts and/or a boozy dessert.
My husband, Dale Murray, made something way cooler and since he has no way of promoting it, I thought I’d share for him:
A custom corner table made out of walnut, created to connect the two sides of the retro sectional in our family room. His efforts put me to shame in September!
If you made it this far, please be sure to smash that ❤️ like button.
So fun! I live the walnut table. I tried to make a felted wool cat cave. It was fun but didn’t turn out well.
