Most Fridays I send out a transcribed love letter from the 1960s! But, on the last Friday of the month, I send out a roundup of all the stuff I made in the last month — and I strongly encourage you to share what you made recently in the comments. I’d love to see it!
Pumpkin Spice Honey
Every October, in honor of Pumpkin Spice season, I make pumpkin spice honey.
I used to buy pumpkin spice-flavored honey at the French Market in my town, but they discontinued it. I was very sad because I really don’t like the oddly chemical taste pumpkin spice coffee syrups have. So now I just put a big tablespoon of pumpkin spice seasoning in a jar of raw honey, turn it a bunch of times to mix it up, and I use that to flavor my morning lattes all month long! I am lazy about it but you could use a tea bag to infuse it if you don’t want the grainy leftover seasoning in your cup.
It’s cheap, it’s easy, it’s delicious!
I also made a second batch of Limoncello but didn’t take pics.
Mini Mausoleum
I had a crafternoon with a couple of crafty friends, and I was going to make a little Halloween diorama but it was too similar to what my friend was making, so instead I used this cute Target dollar spot graveyard tray to make a little mausoleum inspired by this tutorial I saw on YouTube (of course).
This was so fun to make because it was extremely improvisational. I just cut and pasted and painted and slapped it together. I liked that I didn’t feel any pressure and had no plan. It was freeing to just make it and hope for the best. I am pleased with the results, all things considered.
Halloween Decor
Of course, the little Halloween diorama I had originally planned to make was still stuck in my head. So I pulled it together a few days later, and this is how it turned out:
Again, a couple of Target dollar spot seasonal items (the cage, the ghost) coupled with existing craft stash supplies and some roses that I dried using silica last summer. I love using the dried flowers and will have to make more of those!
Cricut Crafts
I usually get recruited to help one of my besties create custom crafts for her daughter’s October birthday, and this year was no different. We drank wine and made these t-shirts:
The girls are going to the Taylor Swift Eras Tour movie for MVP’s 15th birthday in theme costumes. I downloaded this font, and emulated Taylor Swift’s famous t-shirt.
Since I already had the Cricut out and running, I finally made a 1980s Stranger Things shirt for myself (I’ve been meaning to make this for ages):
Wow! I ended up making a lot more stuff than usual this month.
I’m traveling a ton in November, so wish me luck on the crafting front!
